FBI Intensifies Manhunt in UVU Shooting as New Video Evidence Emerges
FBI and Utah authorities release crucial surveillance footage in UVU shooting investigation, while combating foreign disinformation campaigns. Public tips prove vital as manhunt intensifies.

Surveillance footage showing suspect's movements following UVU shooting incident
The Utah Department of Public Safety and FBI have released new surveillance footage in their ongoing investigation of the fatal shooting at Utah Valley University, marking an intensified effort to identify and apprehend the suspect.
Critical New Evidence
DPS Commissioner Beau Mason provided a detailed analysis of the surveillance footage, which shows the suspect's movements following the incident. The footage reveals the suspect wearing distinctive clothing, including a black t-shirt featuring an American flag and eagle design, along with a baseball cap bearing a triangle logo.
Investigators have recovered key physical evidence, including palm impressions and shoe prints believed to be from Converse tennis shoes. The firearm suspected to be used in the shooting was later recovered in a wooded area where the suspect was last seen.
Unprecedented Public Response
Governor Spencer Cox highlighted the extraordinary level of public engagement in the case, drawing parallels to the response seen during major national security incidents. The investigation has generated over 7,000 tips, matching the volume of digital media submissions received during the Boston Marathon bombing investigation.
Combating Disinformation
In an era where political violence has become increasingly concerning, authorities are actively working to counter disinformation. Gov. Cox specifically addressed the presence of foreign bot networks attempting to exploit the situation, urging citizens to rely on official channels for information.
"There is a tremendous amount of disinformation," Cox stated. "We're seeing bots from Russia and China trying to stir unrest. I encourage everyone to turn off those streams and spend time with their families."
